Who gives a shit what the role is get paid and use them Benjamin’s to wipe away the tears of regret
Yeah agree with points above. I’m temporarily at a VC and have found that I really don’t enjoy the investing side (lots and lots of siloed modeling and number crunching) and prefer the consulting post-investment support role, so that’s just my perspective. Good luck with your decision! Definitely get to know the team. A small team = huge difference from a larger consulting firm. It’ll make or break your experience, imo
Likely post-investment support - consulting for companies. The question is whether you’d want to be an investment analyst instead? I feel like that’s worse hours (though potentially clearer career trajectory, depending on how the hedge fund is split)
@SC1 😂 Short term there MAY be more Benjamin's (don't know yet), but long term I may be shooting my consulting career trajectory in the foot so it's not as clear cut in my mind.
Is the firm long only? distressed ? Thinking of some strategies they would be into to need a post investment consultant in house
No job postings?
It came from a recruiter. I talked to him on the phone but still unclear. The fund is tiny (14 people), and he described it as working directly with the owner on strategic analyses
Fair point @B1, I'm thinking post ivestment support as well. Though that usually makes sense for PE firms since hedge funds don't hold on to their investments long enough. And yeah, I'm undecided on whether I'd like to be an investment analyst (not that I have an option really at the moment).

Cognizant isn't known for the best exit opps, this sounds like the best one I've heard of
The fund finds arbitrage opportunities in power transmission rights and trades those. Again sounds good on paper, but I'm early 30s so I want to be careful about what I do over the next 10 years to set me up for long term $$$$$
