I have the platinum select. The intro offer of 50k miles is pretty good and you get the first year for free. If you fly more than a couple times a year and check a bag the card pays for itself. For me personally the 2x miles at restaurants and gas stations is better than the other cards.
Personally don’t think there’s any real value to the AA credit cards (unless trying to use them to get more status Loyalty Points under their new program). I have the AA Executive Elite credit card but that’s only because I was paying for an Admirals Club membership and the credit card annual fee made the membership cheaper actually and gave me the ability have my wife as an authorized user and giver her Admirals Club access when we don’t fly together. I fly enough for work/personal that I earn highest status without needing to spend on the credit card so I really never use it.
Amex, capital one venture or Chase sapphire are much better credit cards than the AA brand

Yes. What type of value are you looking for (AA miles, elite extra, perks)? How much are you willing to spend on a card?

The executive card or the aviator silver (which you can only get if you upgrade the red) both have status boosts after a certain amount of spend.
Agreed with the above. I have the platinum select and it only really helps to get rewards that can be used at American Airlines. I'd definitely go with Amex.
