Hi Fishes, Can Anyone please tell, one of my friend joined Tech M in August, At the time of joining she was 3 months pregnant and now shes worrying about her manager. She wants to inform them about her pregnancy; is it right time to inform? Or she needs to wait for 6 more months for that to inform? Anyone please clearify.. You need to get to know these people. Put time on their calendars for intro calls. We all know the drill
Pro
What no definately schedule some time. It would look bad if your colleagues dont know who you are. You have to network
I would personally not call it “get to know you” time, but I agree it’s good to set up calendar invites for “onboarding.” I’d come prepared with a couple of specific questions regarding their role on the project, what standards have been set regarding communication, etc. - and once you get through that, you can open up the conversation into more informal chit chat to build that initial rapport.
We actually have those as a "policy" for every new hire - we ask everyone to set up a coffee with everyone in the team. They become a bit monotonous at some point tbh so I only did like half and don't do them often :p, but that's just shitty of me. It's important for you! Additionally, maybe see if you can change some into walking meetings (with distance), for people that live near.
We just call them check-in john & jane
