Anyone here experienced a situation where you were excellent at product in a previous company but struggle to do product at a new or current company? I was a top performer previously and I had to switch jobs for a certain reason. Here I find that I just can’t think of anything or find anything to do product wise. I struggle to set strategy or think of big ideas and my pace is incredibly slow.

I feel a bit like this but, in my case, I think it's because I don't feel like I can relate much to the domain, there's limited usage data and access to customers is also challenging.

Is this job in a different domain to your previous one? What do you think is making it hard to come up with ideas?

Same situation as you described. I was in a new domain previously but somehow grasped it. This one was unexpected and I have encountered so many political challenges that it is hard to get my brain to think creatively

I saw a co-worker struggle with this. I think his PM skills were fine but he never really connected with our customers or understood their needs. I found in any role, if I can't authentically connect with the customer it becomes an uphill battle for my productivity.

I'm a first yr attorney at an insurance firm and am in the process of interviewing for an in-house position at a tech company. The position is pretty much generalist, but I get the impression I'd be working mostly on SaaS and partnership transactions. I definitely think I would like the transactional work better, but I am concerned about the long-term earning potential vs. partnership. How common is it to eventually make $400k+ in-house/how difficult is it to transition back to a firm? Thanks!

Hi Fishes,

I am B.tech graduate and currently working in BPO sector in Accenture. I am looking to switch to an IT profile but having zero experience in IT sector. Please suggest how can I switch.

I left biglaw after 3 years to a mid-size firm. Took a pay cut but the hours, people, culture and work were so much better I never thought twice about the salary or “prestige.” Ultimately I started 2 very small firms. I am not rich by biglaw standards but I have a very comfortable life and put my kids through college with no debt. 35 years after leaving big law, people are still impressed when I say I started there. I feel like I still had the benefits of the connection w/o the suffering.

Hi Fishes,

My sibling (from India) applied for Canadian Visa for study permit (2 years) and it was rejected stating the reason "the IRCC agent was not satisfied that the applicant would leave Canada at the end of their stay.
The intake was in Jan 2023.

Should we apply again? Has anyone ever experienced this and would appreciate if they can guide me? I'm really worried and emotionally tormented. Need urgent help.

I am 25 F. Working in Aerospace & Military Defence Co as a Technical Buyer. I have 2 years expierence within administrative roles, 1 year in procurement. I got this role after interviewing for one below (purchasing assistant) the salary for that role was 21-24K. I was already on 24K so they offered me the same salary - however, the buyer role came up and they offered me this instead but same salary -24K. I have a pay review in April, I want to ask for 28K, is this too much?

I need some advice. I have some co workers that are really disgruntled and complain about their jobs a lot to me. It really bring me down and makes it hard for me to work because I get constant messages about how much they hate it here. I’m friends with them outside of work so I don’t want to explode on them. What do you recommend I do/say to them? I want our friendship to last but I can’t stand how they talk right now. And honestly some of their bitching is valid but some isn’t imo.
