Evaluating a job offer (yay!)
I have 8 years of HR experience, no college degree, and no HR certification. Titles held have been HR Specialist, HR Administrator, HR Generalist, Associate HR Manager, and most recently, HR Director for only four months (toxic). Geographically speaking, salaries are not very high. I was offered $45k in an hourly role as a site HR rep for a hotel with about 50 employees in a bustling college town. Should I try to negotiate more pay? Any input is appreciated.
I interviewed there a little while back. Behavioral Qs are pretty standard, though they may ask you about your favorite feature of LinkedIn and what would you improve upon so be ready for that. Cases are generally about their business model so definitely study their b2b and b2c offerings, revenue drivers (subscriptions and ad money), and competitive landscape. I actually received a case about a FAANG company so I was a bit unprepared for that. LinkedIn is all about closing what they call the “network gap” and ensuring every member of the workforce has equal employment opportunities
LinkedIn cares A LOT about cultural fit. There is an expectation that you know what our mission and vision is - to create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce.
Hiring is very similar to Consulting hiring, you must have an advocate for you in the room (i.e. if everyone in the room thinks you’re a good candidate but no one will stand their ground for you, they’ll likely pass).
Managers are generally expected to do IC work as well (you can get up to Senior Manager without direct reports), so the case study does matter.
Most people on the team are former consultants, so they know how consultants generally work. Referrals and “vouches” from other people matter a lot especially within the same department / function.
Happy to answer any specific questions too.

Thanks C1 and L1. Very helpful. Any chance L1 we can talk over DMs? I may have a few specific Qs once I better engage with the material they sent over for prep.
