Anyone know anything about life work balance at LEK, Bain and Co, or Deloitte in their healthcare consulting areas?

I’m not sure how developed Bain’s HC practice is? I believe Deloitte has the most diverse practice, in terms of project mix (meaning hours will run the gamut). LEK heavy DD focused so hours will consistently be bad. Bain also mostly DD (but I believe not as concentrated as LEK), so also bad.

like

Thank you for your insight. This is good to know.

Bain is good, Deloitte is bad, lek is worse

like

Lek is not worse. Bain friends and i work the same

like

All y’all talking out of your asses about LEK. Newsflash - our hours are not really any worse than MBB (our average is probably ~60). Is it tough? Yes, but our WLB is not that different from any other “strategy consulting” firm and in some sense is better (e.g. no travel). We also don’t do as many DDs as people think and it varies by sector - Healthcare includes sub-sectors like biopharma that do <20% DDs

Technically we are hybrid, but many (in Boston office at least) only go in 1-2X a month. The firm is going back to much more local staffing but most people will still WFH most of the time

Average hours when staffed are roughly 9-10:30 M-W, 9-6 Th, 9-5 F. Changes depending on level of course - eg Ms can be later but have much more flex/control

You looking for private or gov healthcare?

If interested in gov HC, I’m open to having a quick call to go over Deloitte’s practice. DM me if you want to discuss sometime

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

Resume/LinkedIn question:

I am a senior student graduating in a couple of months. I am going to join Google this fall as a SWE. My previous work experience includes an internship at Google, and a summer spent working on open source (PostgreSQL) during Google Summer of Code. In addition to a lot of college coursework projects (CE major). Most of these projects are worth mentioning and they cover a diverse range of fields.

At what point should I drop coursework projects from my Resume/LinkedIn?
