I am a senior student graduating in a couple of months. I am going to join Google this fall as a SWE. My previous work experience includes an internship at Google, and a summer spent working on open source (PostgreSQL) during Google Summer of Code. In addition to a lot of college coursework projects (CE major). Most of these projects are worth mentioning and they cover a diverse range of fields.

At what point should I drop coursework projects from my Resume/LinkedIn?

Does anybody do blockchain consulting? How did you get into it, any advice?

Does anyone have any insight into partners retiring early? I am at a point where I need to consider leaving if I am not aiming for partner. I don’t see myself working past my 40s. My partner and I are not big spenders and anticipate have enough to retire comfortably in 40s (obviously a lot can change). I have been assured I will become SM in next year (currently 31 years old).

Any EY folks going to Newco thinking of starting their own consulting firm instead?

If you were on the partner path already I don’t see why you wouldn’t be thinking this…

Recently got a contract job at Facebook NY. I’ve mostly only been a FTE for the entirety of my career, so a bit nervous as I want to eventually be offered FT but feeling a lot of pressure to perform for the next 5 months to prove my worth. I work as in house counsel, and a lot of the employees are not qualified for their position and don’t understand legal/compliance even though they’ve been trained and should be competent enough to understand. I am constantly cleaning up messes and repeating myself and teaching rudimentary skills to the same people every day. Does anybody else feel like this or have advice on how to get through to those difficult people?

Do you find your job intellectually challenging?

Been trying an abundance mindset. It's put me in debt.

I'm working on skills to reposition myself from a branch of tech where certifications are mandatory and required to even interview into DevOps or software development. I'm currently taking some online classes in Jenkins, docker, python. I've found a few certifications you can test for. I'd love to be able to go into a mid level position vs Jr in the next few years. A) Are these types of certs helpful or useless? B) what skills differentiate Jr and mid level positions?

Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction.
