I left as a M1 to an sec reporting role. So far it’s so much slower than I was used to. We’ll see how 10k season goes, but I can’t see it being all that massive of an undertaking. I do know I’m grateful to be on this side rather than the audit side.
I did leave to a large client (there are 8 people total in financial reporting) so that probably has something to do with the slowness.
$130k base, 15% bonus.
i totally understand! Do you have some good advice on how to evaluate a proper title/job description?
I left as M2 and am now a Sr Manager of SEC reporting and technical accounting. So far I have a great wrk life balance and don’t really expect 10K season to be any different but I guess I’ll see. I’m much less stressed than I was in audit but still get to see interesting things. Base $150k and 20% bonus. I will note that while I understand where EY1 above is coming from as I’ve seen it at my old clients, not all industry positions are as inflexible as they are saying. It’s something you can feel out during the interview process and with remote working, a lot of companies aren’t as stringent as they once were as long as you’re getting your work done and available when it’s an important deadline.
Thank you so much! Titles at industry can be so confusing and I’m always not confident enough to pursue higher titles but your insight is very helpful! I hope to gain a busy season under this mgr belt and then go out to find good opportunities

Going to depend on company and if you’re talking FP&A or SEC reporting
More thinking about SEC reporting
My husband is in SEC reporting for an overseas listed company and he has max 40 hours most days, but 1-2 days a month and half year/year end are 7 days a week. Plus, those half year/year end dates always conflict with summer and Xmas. So while I work more overall, I have a tremendous amount more flexibility and time off.
The biggest change/regret that I’ve experienced is the lack of flexibility. Hours are far better, but flexibility is non existent.
