It’s a range depending on the client. I work at point B. People genuinely want colleagues to be happy. Client work can vary but I haven’t seen too much PMO work. If a role is PMO and they don’t like it, they roll off. There’s a good amount of strategy and analytics work. Really standard management consulting. Lots of folks from the big 4 come here. It’s basically slalom. Travel depends - for newer office locations, you might have project/cases that you travel for, but you genuinely have a choice if you don’t want to travel a lot. Let me know if you have questions
Is there a lot of tech implementation work, or is it more advisory consulting type projects? (Trying to get away from implementations)
They definitely do advisory. But they likely will have it be multiphased projects - wave 1 being advisory, wave 2 being an implementation. Boston is a newer location and still growing so it’s more likely to be a mixed bag. I know they’ve done advisory projects in that area, but there’s usually a wave 2. But it’s not cookie cutter. You’re not likely to do the ‘work on implementing this one software and specialize’ - but you likely will be asked to do that type of work as part of wave 2 projects. Does that help? Staff aug work is done by one of the groups under the Point B umbrella, but not typically done by regular employees unless there’s a reason
I had an Senior Manager colleague leave for them to achieve work life balance with no travel and he has gotten just that. He said the work is boring but he's still married so that's good. Lots of PMO.
Boutique firm, good culture, very different from Big4, more focused on local work and work-life balance. Have seen a lot of staff aug work. Some strategic advising. Good firm, loyal to their people, friendly. Not so high Presse
What’s the point of difference if I may ask - how do you/why do you win in the areas below (excluding aug as presume that’s price and being local).
What about the property and investment arm - isn’t that a new thing point B is trying to offer. Is that working / scaled / part of the offering?
