All right, Partners. You make a lot of money. We know it. You know it. Clients know it. All the Partners I've seen are very modest and down to earth. But tell us how you spurlge! Where are the ones with Ferraris, Lambos, a $10M house in LA, or an NYC penthouse? Show us your Pateks or ⛵! Curoius to see how you all spend your high income. Don't be shy...

Anyone else feel like they just can’t get by? My wife and I make about 155k combined and we are barely getting by with our mortgage and bills. We made a budget and everything seems to be necessary. Are prices of things going up that much? We barely eat out or spend lavishly.. Anyone else in the same predicament?

Partners, What is your opinion on GARP financial Risk Manager (FRM) certificate? I am considering taking it (as I am FS Risk Consulting), but I am not sure if it really carries benefits. Apparently it is quite a tough study. Is it worth the time or should I invest my time elsewhere? Suggestions on what to focus are greatly appreciated

Big Law Dads: How much time do you usually take off when your wife has a baby? And do you actually get to take off, or do you just end up working from home half the time? My wife is due Mid-December, and I’m staffed on 4 M&A deals trying to close by year end, so it’s not looking promising.

So I’ve heard most people said once you make over $100k, do traditional 401k instead of Roth 401k. From what I know, you’ll basically have 2 separate accounts moving forward. Or do you transfer your Roth 401k to traditional 401k? Or something else? I’m jumping from $150k to $205k TC. And I think I’m really thinking about the switch now.

Help me understand this. From a salary of 120k, I’m getting a total tax deduction of 27%. That’s $32,400 going to the government. 32 thousand?!?!?! Do I ever get any of it back? Why so much? It technically reduces my income to $87k. Can someone please explain. I’m appalled.

What is prorata rule for IRAs? I have an IRA at Vanguard that has grown pretty large over last 10 years ( got lucky with tech stocks). I have a separate small Fidelity IRA from a previous employer that they created to roll over my pension benefits. That second IRA is not “activated” (Fidelity has a button saying activate IRA but have not clicked it since was not sure if there are any implications to doing this). Assuming ok to have 2 IRAs, and no tax implications until retirement. Correct?

Is there a difference between 250k salary and 400k salary? Both salaries are watching spiderman on opening night. Both salaries have food on the table and a roof over their heads. One has a 65in tv vs the other has 75in. One drives a BMW the other a Tesla. I make around 250k and to increase my salary I will have to work a lot more. Is it really worth having more money, at some point it is just a number and quality of life doesn't improve. In fact it could be worse with the extra hours.
