Anyone move from consulting to product manager? Any advice or just general thoughts on your move? I feel well connected to tech companies but not sure how to position my consulting experience

Is CMA worth getting after getting the CPA? Or is it better to get the CFA. Also don’t have much finance background so I don’t know if I can pass the CFA will require a lot of hard work. Interesting in hearing people’s thoughts.

I have no plans in leaving PA anytime soon but I figure maybe I should look into another certification that holds value and makes me more marketable compared to my peers. Appreciate any thoughts and advice.

I see quite a few positions hiring APM pretty far from now, for example for Sep 2023. Is that a normal practice? (Not an APM program or anything, just APM or PM position).

I work in a strategy role at a gaming company. While I have the designation of a manager, I am not managing anyone. They were going to hire people who I would manage but due to recession it’s not happening. I was earlier in consulting and left at the senior level. How does one pivot into senior roles without having an opportunity to manage anyone?

Is working in VC Ops for a T10 Series A fund a good opportunity? This would be an internship preMba. Have you talked about your wedding with coworkers? I made the mistake of saying I had to leave work a little early one day because I was going to do a tasting at my venue. That starts a debate on why one shouldn’t get married, how much wedding costs & what a waste it is, dresses are stupid because you only wear them once, etc. I haven’t talked about my wedding much, but I didn’t appreciate this. Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? Client recently offered me a job for an open req (industry eq SM). The work is flexible, the req is just to get me in the door but I decide what I want to work on (which I trust to be true). 🐠, need opinions/advice. Persistent recruiter asked me to consider having an exploratory convo with a company for a VP role even though I’m not looking to make a switch. That casual convo has morphed into two interviews this week, one with an SVP and EVP and one with the global head of the practice. It would be a $65k bump in salary. Worth going through with it? Should I mention that I’m not actively looking to leave my current job? Been here 6 months…

Leaving for a series C unicorn company with less than 1 YOE. Should I stay in consulting? The TC is 15% lower but the hours are 9-5 and ex MBB people with 3 YOE exit to the same position but one level above me.
