I did an extensive comparison between both before opting for an iPad - it heavily depends on your use case.
If you only aim to use it for note taking and that’s it then it could be worth it, however, I found it quite expensive for what it offers. An iPad lets me do things beyond note taking, e.g., using it as a second monitor, uploading documents to it and taking notes directly on slides, connecting it to work apps (like onenote, teams) watching stuff on it while on flight/free time etc. I found that a regular iPad / iPad Air is very similar in price and offers way more.
You can also put on an iPad a screen protector that feels very similar to paper so you can also get that note taking experience.
Hope this helps! Good luck :)
Remarkable works really well, if you actually use it as a note book. It’s less distracting than a tablet but also lacks some useful functionality
I use remarkable but it took 3 months to get into a discipline habit of setting up files and PDFing notes etc
I use remarkable and very happy about it. But I don’t see and position it as an alternative to ipad (or any other tablet). I’m a notebook person and bought remarkable to get rid of my notebooks and keep my notes more systematic which it delivered perfectly

Just put a paperfeel cover on your iPad and get a cheap stylus and see if writing notes on a digital device actually suits your workflow. I did that and realised that was good enough. Didn’t need to shell out for the remarkable - it would have just been for the novelty for me. Also remember the syncing of files requires a monthly subscription lol
