I have applied to several positions up Google. I have not heard anything back at all. No matter if I customize my résumé to the job description I still don’t hear anything back. I am wondering as to why Google ghost people instead of just telling them that they didn’t get the job? Do people on Google believe it is appropriate for the recruiters just a ghost people especially if they feel they don’t match the job?
I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

It could be one of two things.
1) you aren’t as good as you think you are
2) you are as good as you think you are, and there are people better, who are getting selected instead of you
A referral doesn’t do anything except help ensure that a recruiter looks at your resume.

Maybe you're not selling yourself enough? Almost everyone meets all qualifications. But some have incredible previous experience, great projects to show, won impressive awards, or have "something more" like volunteering at a NGO etc.
If you have the right skills, experience, and values, then it might be that your application is not representative of who you are.
I remember a very talented friend who applied with an ugly CV and never got any interview. As soon as we fixed it, he got a job in less than a month.
