Oh the truth...

Negotiating with EY for M/SM Tech Consulting. I have 15 years experience, skills are in demand and my interviews went extremely well. 1. What are the salary ranges for M and SM in NYC. 2. I am told it is only going to be a M now, for my own benefit-no EY network means failure at selling. Whats the highest salary I can negotiate at M. Any other tips will be handy. I have "sold" (support on sales & new roles through relationships) plus I have solid delivery experience. I really want SM 😀😀😀 EY

I am a single mom and honestly, it’s been a combination of me being blocked by men in roles of ego-dominance that work fewer hours than I do and know less than I do that get the jobs because I am not available for “happy hour” and my preference to show up at cheer practice every now and then and get back to work afterwards. The work still gets done, just not at the local bar.
Yes yes and yes. I actually just had an interview last week that would have been a 30% base increase, corporate title, but a 90+ mile commute round trip 2-3 days a week. I realize that I’m not willing to give up my quality of life which is 100% remote supply chain work for a corporate title and higher visibility with direct reports. I’ve been working 40 years and things change sometimes for the better. You just have to evaluate what’s important to you. For various reasons it makes my current job look like a dream job after that interview. Perspective is everything.
haha! So true that money isn't everything.
Yes - I do not have kids and still find myself not wanting the lifestyle of sr director+. I want to stay connected to the work and don’t want to move up unless I go to work at a smaller company. The higher levels are all politics in big corporations which is emotionally exhausting
Yes & for that reason I’m choosing to stay at a lower level for a while. Idk how long but it’s right for me and my family right now. 4 and 2 year old and I am a senior consultant, 6.5 years experience. Choosing to not to go manager role as it’s not just managing a team but also selling new work and a bunch of other stuff I’m not interested in doing. Eventually I will likely move up but in a different role, maybe internal so not selling work, idk yet!

My current role is actually a breeze compared to when I was a Director. Better pay, less stress, amazing wlb.
Well this sounds fabulous, what was the secret? Just luck?
