Just got a job at Deloitte M&A in Atlanta and am currently looking to buy a house. Would you advise I buy closer to Atlanta or the suburbs? I personally want to be in the suburbs but I hear the traffic situation is quite bad. Current consultants in Atlanta, how much time do you actually spend in the office vs remote vs client site? Would you advise I try and stay closer to the office?
Can we expect a permanent wfh option?

I assume if ibankers in NYC can wfh, those in sydney should be able to as well?
So there are some groups at JP in NYC that can’t, but I do think they’re trying to open up smaller offices outside the city in both nyc and London for that. Your brother is right though in that some programs will only run on JP computers because of our security measures
Bloomberg and Reuters both have remote access capabilities. That's a terrible excuse.
Second this. My roommate has remote access to Bloomberg for his job and has been using it from the dining room table.
He also doesn’t want to WFH so maybe it’s an excuse but he still lives at home with my parents who are around 60 (yes, he’s 24, making over 2x what I am, and still has mum iron his shirts) so I’d rather he didn’t catch public transport everyday
Friend at Deutsche Bank still has to go in as an “essential employee”, also for the Bloomberg/recorded phone reason. He said that very few of them are required to go in though, and IT is working to fix up the remote option.
Was at my local bank in the US and they told me starting tomorrow they are closing the front doors and asking people to do drive through only.
I wasn’t referring to consumer banks but yeah, if banks that usually meet with their clients daily can close, investment banks should be able to as well...
Is he a trader? Then maybe he has to go in.
Brother in law is a VP at fidelity and he has to go in still. Something about customers still bringing in checks etc. Old school customers.
Capital One has figured out a way to shift everything corporate to WFH, even the service centers. Some branch teller services however, are closed along with banking cafes. ATMs are still available.
