I received a take home case study for a strategic finance position. They gave me historical statements for the last 3 years (quarterly) and asked for insights/observations and opportunities/trends. What should I be observing here? I’m used to just modeling exams but I’m not sure how to proceed here. They didn’t give industry but this looks like retail store financials when they are a software company....

Automatic red flag to have an engagement kickoff just before the holidays, receive emails at all hours of the day (to include weekends/holidays), be told there’s a lot to do but “it’ll be a great opportunity”, and then be told leadership wants people to prioritize work life balance?
