Doesn’t matter. Totally depends on the situation. Taxable can be good to hold longer to pay lower taxes. But if you’re not comfortable with the situation on the ground and/or want to lock in profits ..... or salvage a bad investment .... length of holding is irrelevant.
Long term, however, you can’t go wrong loading up your IRA with good investments.

Nope definitely not but thanks for the reminder :) I’ve maxed 401k, IRA and HSA and recently reorganized my assets based on tax efficiency so currently in the process of DCA’ing mostly domestic stock MFs and some TIPS in IRA and int’l stock MFs in taxable. Trying to use 3-5% of total assets as play money and just wondering if it’s better to do that in IRA or brokerage

Yea at this point I’m not sure if I want to hold for long term or sell within the year. Currently looking into DAL, MAR, BRKB, SPG, DIS. I have Roth IRA w Fidelity and taxable w Vanguard. So probably go with Fidelity IRA or open another brokerage at Fidelity is best? Since Vanguard charges a ton for trading fees..
Vanguard dropped their fees Jan 1. So no issues there. The big thing here is just making sure you’re using your IRA at some point. You could do all VOO in the IRA and then mess with stocks outside of it in a brokerage or something else, but I wouldn’t forgo the benefits or an IRA, if that’s what you’re at all considering.
