It's just FB. I've never heard anyone actually use it seriously. I think people here just like to make fun of their own firm given how many people dislike it.

@PwC1 My experience with Deloitte recruiting is that we'll try to position ourselves as the next best thing to MBB. We don't even try to compete with cross-MBB offers but will generally only compare ourselves with MBB rather than other Big 4 firms. I think Deloitte has established itself as a clear 4th place though.

I just facilitated interviews for MBA campus recruiting and it's funny how we are obviously second tier in their mind to MBB and yet they don't get an offer bc they can't execute a basic case study
It's interesting to me how the "prestige" compares. On one hand, when it comes to pure strategy, big 4 is definitely a tier below MBB. On the other hand, I think Deloitte and PwC are better "global services firms" and definitely better for technology, at least as good for tech strategy. Audit and tax I might lean the other 2 big 4's since they are less advisory-oriented. But if Deloitte and PwC are trying to compete on projects and recruits purely on expertise and prestige, I think that's dumb because MBB is clearly superior on both. But there is a compelling angle when you start to talk about execution of a strategy...I wouldn't lean MBB there, Deloitte/PwC give me the best of both worlds. I mean, Goldman Sachs is probably a more prestigious employer than any consulting firm but if you're not in IB who cares?
As someone at Deloitte, I think we do a really job of perception. Reality is very different than perception though. I would have gone to ATK/OW/LEK rather than Deloitte. There's way way more Operations projects than Strategy projects.
Our practice is called Strategy and Operations for a reason. Think "little S, big O".... also our strategy offerings aren't pure play C suite, typically they are embedded with more downstream or tactical events (I know that sounds like a paradox), for things like M&A; outsourcing, finance, etc...... effectively we are advisory on the strategy for discrete initiatives of broader executive level strategy
I wouldn't dismiss Monitor's strategy prowess, but yes we do much more operations work.

I wouldn't dismiss it outright. Not speaking from personal experience but apparently some Deloitte campus recruiters actually use 'MBBD' during presentations... to your question McK1 though, I'm not sure if these are rogue recruiters or an actual company directive
