They bring a lot of creativity, and I especially love how disillusioned they are with working life, and how quickly they call things out for what they are. What can you expect from a group of people asked to work for their butt off for not enough money to cover rent on a studio apartment? I think they will hold up fine in a high pressure role IF their compensation is enough to justify it.

Good positive point of view, sometimes I feel negative but you are right too. They are just a new gen that are adopting to older gens and we are adapting to them as well.

Yeah they stick to 9-5... dunno who can get anything done on 8h (including lunch and coffee breaks plus others)
As a cusper (1980 sits between GenX and Millennial), I do appreciate that they are better at setting boundaries than I ever was. That said, I’ve noticed a sense of entitlement with new grads entering the workforce. They feel they should be making $150-200k+ a year upon graduation even though they have no idea what good actually looks like, and no real experience to drive results independently. And most don’t want to spend the time or energy to work up to making more — they just want it handed to them.
Set your boundaries but don’t expect annual raises to bonuses to be commiserate when others are willing to put in more work. I’m not saying it’s healthy, but I’ve been working since 15 years old, risen from having to work 3 jobs after grad school to make ends meet, and now a single job where I make a half a million a year but I’m willing to work 60-80 hours week to make sure I get results for the company. I know they aren’t loyal to me, and I’m socking money while I can. I knew I’d make sacrifices along the way; nothing has ever been just handed to me, and I don’t take one minute of it for granted.
So have a healthy relationship with work, but don’t expect to get compensation if you haven’t justified your worth to the company through the results you’ve personally driven. In big tech, we’re all just cogs in the machine.
Not every role is meant for everybody, regardless of generation. I see a lot of very positive aspects of Gen Z, as well as some that are pretty concerning. You have to be a certain type of person for high pressure. It comes with the salary, but that only goes so far if you just can’t handle it. I dipped my toes in it and quickly found out it’s not for me.

The Gen Z have seen it all, they are well-versed with technology too!
