Totally a personal choice and depends on your budget. Closer to you, Elm Creek and Hunters Creek are both nice, so is Shavano. Rogers Ranch is lovely. Encino Park and Emerald Forest are also great in that part of town. Hollywood Park is another.
If you want to reduce taxes you have to go to the unincorporated areas that have also not been annexed by the city. I believe that’s Summerglen, Mountain Lodge, Canyon Springs,,, maybe Champions as well. Timberwood Park might qualify.
What that commute is to you is personal. We live way north and have tons of friends who think nothing of taking their kids to school daily as far as incarnate word but I wouldn’t do that.
I still love with my parents but I like it near McAllister park, pretty convenient because I’ve had different uses for the park for all the different stages in my life. When i was a kid I’d play soccer there, in high school I’d throw the frisbee and take my dog to the dog park, and now as an adult I’ll go run or walk through the woods. Cheap houses built in the 70s so less of that cheap plastic stuff you saw in later decades
When I first started in consulting I lived there, right up Wetmore. It was so convenient for air travel! Love that part of town.
