As a former tech manager turned humorist/writer, I'm super curious what the experience is like with AI right now in the workplace. Was talking with a guy working in accounting last week and he said "AI's being thrown at us—hard." Is this what you're also seeing and how do you feel about it?

The capabilities and adoption are progressing at breakneck speed and I am exhausted from it. My favorite parts of my job have been automated.

I was laid off 8 months ago. The only offer I had was a down step in pay and title with a ton more responsibilities. I show up and there's only three sw engineers for the entire company. My coworker is using AI and creates 500-10k lines of prs a day. Two weeks in the asked me for a pr with 100k lines, mostly generated. Even the average of 2k lines is hard to keep up with when we are simultaneously q/a, SW, firmware, support, and design, deploy/pipeline, etc etc. Because the code is generated it's more important to review but I also can't slow him down due to the precedent he set with speed of turnaround, and the fact that having it done is more important than doing it well.

I could use AI to help, but as a new hire and a tiny budget they give all the ai tokens to my other two coworkers. I also started when tokens got way more expensive in a matter of days. I do use ai search engines, I find them to be a juiced Google, but I have yet to generate any code.

They're not bad people but the situation is stressful to the nines. My coworker will get a feature request in the morning and have it generated that afternoon expecting it to be reviewed. I've been there for two months and already touched 6+ features, several large projects, and lived through a code release.

I have never filled form 11 and other personal details untill 1 week before my joining date.

My joining date would be after my notice period which is usually 2 months.
Should I share the person details and form 11 they asked for now itself?
Will it be a problem if i don't wish to join the company later

How do you deal with an ineffective, passive manager?
My team gained a new SOC Manager in February and to this day he’s become notorious for passing tasks down to our lead and analyst and doesn’t understand the systems we use nor does he make an effort to learn. There’s a task that I took on prior to him going(which is a manager level task) and when this manager joined the team he made an attempt for me to permanently take on the task and I immediately pushed back. Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction. I don’t want to waste time (colleagues mentioned it doesn’t get much better from here). Do I embrace the suck or look for other opportunities?

Just received 2 offers that I’m weighing, both in Advertising tech:
1. Smaller firm about to be acquired by a larger one, Product Marketing role (title would be Sr. PMM)
2. FAANG, Sales Account Manager role (similar to my current role)
I have 5-6 YOE and have been in an Account Management role for most of my career - is it worth making the switch to PMM at a smaller firm or sticking with what I know at a FAANG? Both would have relatively similar comp. Thanks in advance for your input!
