What kind of question is this? Get the work done, don’t care about anything else
Agree, there is a very clear answer here. No question a get work done person.
This seems silly, work product is all that matters, not the time it takes to do it.

They want you to get the work done and also be available early/late for questions, fire drills, last minute stuff, etc.

I’ll take the first person and give them more work until they have enough to fill their day.

HA.
As a manager your job is not complete until EVERYONE is working all 168 hours in the week.

If you're not using that free time you gained from being efficient at your job for self study, self development, and teaching yourself skills that are purely work-related, you're wrong.
?? Definitely the former
As a manager, I’m having them teach me how to get all my work done in 5 hours so I can some time back.
Joining the choir to say the former. Execution is all that matters, in-chair time is completely irrelevant.
That’s why I’m glad to have Outlook and Teams on my phone. I know the instant a client wants something and can respond in a timely fashion. Which is good when you’re in e-discovery working for attorneys/paralegals who have a habit of making last-minute ASAP requests so you’re basically on call 16/7.
I stress to my team that I’m not expecting them to be at their desk during a specific time period. Get the work done on time, be available when expected, and all is good.
