Absolutely not I think that’s so weird. If I got an email from a 6th year associate on their school email I’d be like wtf? You can make that clear in the body of the email that you’re a fellow alumni.

Yes.

Mine says alumni in the address, so less weird.
You can, but you can also use a personal email (Gmail etc). You will be introducing yourself as fellow alum, class of X, so it really doesn't matter imo. Most people will respond to fellow alum, regardless of email address. If you also know a bit about their work, community/law school involvement, publications, speeches etc, that you read/heard, then bring that up too. Connect with them on LinkedIn; you may have shared connections that can intro you. Best of luck!
We still have access to our school emails? Lol no. Use your firm email or your Gmail
My alumi emails are my primary emails. I think its weird not to send from my alumni email.... I'd be more concerned with a random yahoo, Gmail, etc.
Same here. I am surprised at all the anti-school emails from more experienced lawyers. You still retain access to your school email for networking purposes (unless we are talking about lower ranked schools where the networking effect is lower).
Do you not have personal email? I low key think it’s weird when I see alums using law school emails. Usually it’s Harvard and I think the person is just trying to flex or something and I judge them for that
oh my. I use my school email because I get to may junk emails sent to my private one. Noted, I will switch to work email.
Are you emailing alumni to lateral to a new firm? If so, that is not the best way to go about it. Most attorneys (partners and associates) have little control over hiring. They could maybe make a referral, but there are a lot of hands involved in hiring these days. I would use your Gmail, but honestly, it doesn't matter all that much.
P2, are you saying if I am able to get my resume directly acknowledged by the recruiting office, specifically looking for an insider contact does not add more weight (beyond a referral)?
