Ditto OP - SM with no desire to make MD - love what I do and the freedom I have to work on stuff that interests me - MDs don’t get to say no - or so I’ve been told by several that made it only to discover that

As an MD, you are now an entrepreneur - but you need to be growing your business.
If you are ahead on your numbers, great. If behind, then saying “no” to opportunities given is a poor way to manage your portfolio.
I’m with you OP. Experienced hire 3 years in. Not trying to climb the ladder.. just comfy and I like it. Hate away.
