Ask to transfer offices before starting full-time or work for a year then ask? 3L

I did 3L recruiting and starting at a law firm in a satellite office in general tax this fall. Most of the team is in NY but they had a need for the satellite office and I had ties to that market because I lived there before. However I prefer to work in NY. Should I start work first then ask later on or ask before I start?

Is anyone else like this? I will not hesitate to invest/save for retirement and throw a few k into those accounts regularly, but when it comes to myself I hesitate to buy anything unless I absolutely need it? Im a minimalist and if stuff still works I will keep it. Ex- my car is 12 yrs old, most clothes are 4+ yrs old, etc. It seems like everyone else in consulting/my age (24) seems to care about having the nicest newest things. Am I weird for not caring about that stuff? I feel left out

Any Atomic Habit readers here? I’m brainstorming identity-based habits for two things I want to change:

-I want to bill more hours, so my goal is to become the type of person who bills at least 8 a day
-I want to drink less alcohol, so my goal is to become the type of person who drinks occasionally

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).
