If you’re tapping out at 7pm, you have zero chance of being able to handle IB.
Respectfully, IB is 100x more in depth than FDD. You’re having to be on every second of the day, talking with specialists on all areas looking at you for guidance. It is no way “easier” to plug away
This ^ - as the IB personnel you may be the only associate in the NwC call; and you have to make sense of what the partner and client is asking and wanting; I as the SA just take notes like a dunbass and wait for my manager to tell me what to do with it lol
"being in deep thought"... then goes on saying JE memos... hmm...
I also said “dealing with minutia”
CIPs and Pitch Decks are probably 20% of the job and are the easiest parts. The other 80% is being deep in the weeds of the model, transaction datacube, databook, vdr preparation, etc...
Oh and you're expected to work a minimum of 80 hours a week and be correct 100% of the time. There is no hiding in IB.
A1 I was more talking about at the junior level you need to be right all the time. You need to be on your A game 24/7 in IB. You will get grilled relentlessly if you make mistakes, even minor.
I was in FDD. I worked with a lot of dumb people in FDD and I've worked with dumb people in IB. The standards for work quality are much higher in IB and those who are dumb, don't last long at all. Meanwhile we have Plante Moran doing a QoE for us and they can't seem to spell the company name correctly in the report...
Can’t imagine IB is easier by any stretch than FDD. Hours alone would make simple tasks much harder
I'm not in FDD but in TAS and I feel the same. Mentally can't take much more past 7pm each day or my work product is garbage.
Tax Due Diligence I mean.
