Facts 💯.... the timesheets alone are stressful

Staff appropriately and accept the hit to the bottom line. Really not that hard of a problem to solve

we are just in a collective depression due to the poor management of our world economy and local economies. things will cycle better and worse each decade until we all die. but realistically i think we need to care again about the work we are doing in order to get out of burnout.. most people feel like their job is fake or not important in the big picture so the stress of it is worse

be more humane; it will get you so far. i just made the change from public accounting to industry and being around coworkers and management that genuinely care about my wellbeing has brought tears to my eyes (privately). i was forced to sign out after i’d been engrossed in something i was doing because “it can wait until tomorrow and you need to get some rest.”

i’ve been experiencing lower back pains since yesterday so i asked my manager if i could wfh this morning and she urged me to just take the day off and said “you come first. we’ll miss you in the office but you need to focus on getting better.” in public accounting, i got put on a PIP after i lost a very close family member and my boyfriend also broke up with me in the same week and i wasn’t performing well. i kept breaking down in the office, so i needed to wfh and they brought that up and said i wasn’t “reliable/dependable.” also said that i needed to wfh too often and that this was an on-site role, so that wasn’t acceptable despite them seeing the state i was in.

i want to also add that this has resulted in me wanting to be more productive because i like and respect my team/management. hated my work and team before and now i actually like what i do and want to do my best to give high quality work to them. i thought the burnout from public would’ve followed me into industry but i’ve gotten a complete reset due to my environment

Realistically, aren’t people burned out in every industry?

likesmart

Have a direct family member that works for the federal govt. can assure they are burned out.

A workload spread out instead of loading everyone with “equal accounts” 5 accounts per desk doesn’t equal the same amount of work, and knowing each client’s needs and expectations would help. Also sufficient support for workloads.

4 day work week, remote option to any work that was able to be done remote in 2020. Simplify processes that don’t have to be complex. … management be like “how about a pizza on Friday once a month?”

Quit, and create space for the people who deserve to be promoted

That’s uncivil and uncalled for

maybe it’s just the burnout talking, but do we have faith that the industry would actually make the reasonable accommodations in any reality?

Hire more people

Too many managers and not enough associates during busy season. And if you’re in RIC Tax like me, it’s November and December. Makes for horrendous Holiday Season. Companies also need to pay overtime for those hours. Salary barely covers the crappy healthcare plans.

Discrimination question. I’ve been passed for several job opportunities in the last 4 years. Every single time the job is given to a male who’s older than me, despite my qualifications being more in line with the job. Is it worth it to make a discrimination claim? I recently moved to the US, and it feels like there's no future for me here. I applied to numerous jobs, but I am having difficulty getting my CV seen. People keep telling me that I won't have much luck as a fresh grad here without any references because I didn't study in the US.
