What do you think will be the impact of this rapid hiring for MBB? MBB is hiring so rapidly. When it cools down, do you think MBB will realize they over hired? Will it become harder for associates (post MBA) to get promoted? Will it become more competitive for Associates to get staffed on projects they want to be on? Will there just be too many consultants at the Firm and a mass layoff? McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group
Hi, I've been offered a job at ZS associates in one of their European locations. The role is at the mid-manager level.
I hope to gain insight from ZS Associates fishes on ZS culture and WLB in their European offices.
What's the WLB like if you are based in Europe? What's a typical work week like, regarding the number of hours?
Any other Pros and Cons?
I am currently doing a 9 to 5 at Ferring. At times extra hours are necessary, but it is not the norm.

How is Deloitte with filing for GC? My current employer just started my i-140 process and I’m coming in as an experienced hire Consultant. I was told they will start the process after a year but not stated in my offer. I have 3.5 years left on my H1-B. Is it risky join Deloitte for something with visa requirements? TIA

If it's not worth it, even for the money prestige, the get out. There's no shame in quitting a job you realized you didn't like
Get out
Hey there. I moved to MBB 1.5 years ago from a PhD too. It was really hectic and exhausting for the first 8-10 months. Partly because the intellectual stimulus in consulting was not the same as the one I had from my PhD so it left me drained. Until you find some thing that re-energises you it will be a slog in consulting or any other job. As others said don't quit less than 1 year in. Though if it's any solace Sunder Pichai and Sheryl Sandberg were at MCK for no more than a year (SP was there only for 11 months I think) so the future is bright
Suck it up for at least a year. It'll look like you bailed to future employers if any less than that.
Agree wholeheartedly.
How quickly will MBB counsel out? Agree OP should make it to 12 months, but when can they let up on the gas?
12 months exceedingly rare, considered a mis-hire. 18 months pretty uncommon. 24 months most common for counsel out. Can also stretch to 27 or 30 months if you have missed the opportunity to show a critical skill. Can never let up on the gas though. Never promo cycle starts before the current one is even official
Omg sooo drained. I also think some people are built to manage it better - my team does 6:30am flights, 8am check ins and midnight finishes without breaking a sweat and it kills me. 1) Put up your own boundaries, I say to me team I stop working at 10pm and will walk out of team room then unless it’s a disaster... and I’ve got just as good reviews as those that stay until late 2) Try to sleep as much as you can by being insanely efficient with everything else - wake up, delete IG/FB, exercise whilst emailing, don’t sleep procrastinate, have breakfast at work etc. 3) Don’t always drink at team dinners as I find I get bad sleep -> more exhausted. Do 1x team dinner max a week and just opt out the rest
...and all of this to last you your 1-2 years then if it’s still rough get out 😉
^ Mck1 Seems like a pathetic life
Following.
Are you on the MBB generalist track?
Where were you before MBB?
Having a job for the first time is definitely a factor. I’m not sure if I got used it or numb. 18 years in...
Suck it up and tough it out for at least a year. It will be worth it
Lol I feel like that after a 9 hour day
