Also, what’s the compensation like in Austin specifically? I would think the compensation would be different than Cupertino. Anyone have any offers or salaries for these positions in Austin?

Network. Network. NETWORK!
So networking is one thing. Is your book good? How do you interview? Are you looking at places where your skillset/experience would fit in?
It is decidedly a ‘sellers’ (creatives/huntee’s) market with a lot of open positions.
At the CD level you may be in more rarefied air but there are a lot of jobs unfilled. Just applying via LinkedIn is tough so finding a shared connection is of course the best move to rise you to the top.
Feel like there are so many understated & extra details that help to have in order for creatives…
Is your site easy to navigate & do you display the work in a way that helps tell a clear story?
Is your portfolio a reflection of your personality/tone?
Is your Google SEO solid?
Is your URL simple?
Is your headshot up to date & professional looking?
Google your name, do the right things come up?
Are your social profiles on your site & are they clear of red flags?
Is your LinkedIn organized & does it show the brands you’ve worked on?
Does your site show off your hobbies?
Is your about or bio page friendly?
Do you have your email somewhere on your site?
If you’re an AD, is your logo cool? How about the theme of your site?
Just to name a few. These little details add up to a stronger bigger picture for whoever is hiring you. Especially for creatives, when I’m looking at books, I look for the small details. Hope this helps some.
