Maui - one of our favorite places. Takes COVID seriously, mostly outdoor activity.
Yosemite. Absolutely stunning and some wonderful hikes.
If you want a combination of adventure awesome scenery - Alaska. Rent a car and stay in various VRBOs. Obviously in the summer.
Alaska was fantastic with my older teens!

Key West. Beautiful, unique island. Great food. Lots of outdoor activities. Scuba diving, spear fishing, charter a small fishing boat for a day. Go over to Dry Tortugas. Rent a Jeep and drive up the keys chain.
What do you mean by Covid friendly? I loved Maui because of how careful they were. On the flip side, I would say Whitefish is a great family vacation spot, and is very friendly towards Covid.
Park City skiing or hiking!
South Lake Tahoe, summer time, hiking, casino within walking distance. College kids enjoyed.
Tanzania - natural social distancing and back to nature
Sanibel Island….quiet beaches, shore fishing, marine life swimming around you (manetee, dolphin, schools of rays, etc) great local food, beautiful sunsets from the beach, and incredible shell collectiing on beach walks.
Olympic National Park!!
We rented a VRBO at a planned community on Hilton Head Island. We were a 1 minute walk to a private beach. It was awesome.
A few have mentioned Florida locations, which we’ve been to and are great. Here’s a plug for another one - Marco Island. We rented a house through VRBO for 3 weeks this month (January) and just finished up. We already booked for Jan 2023. As for covid, I don’t think it ever made its way down there. No masks, no signs on stores or restaurants, no mention of it anywhere. As if it doesn’t exist. We’re from lockdown central (NYC area), what a welcomed difference!!! If this is what suits you of course.
We just did LaQuinta Ca for the holidays. Hiking golf spa - Palm Springs for some great meals - BMW Experience is nearby - my 18yr old and the rest of us got to 130+ on the track. I’m in NY so the mountains and slightly warmer weather was nice too. LaQuinta Resort offered Casita’s - kids has their own downstairs and we had upstairs w a full patio and fireplace to play cards/games and hang as a family. Kids are 23/21/18. All enjoyed the gig - as did me an my wife. Family time was real god.
Turks and Caicos or Anguilla for a fabulous beach / island vacation. Alaska is amazing for scenery and outdoor activities. My older teens love all three of these destinations.
Maui!!!
