Best use for Amex points?

Seeing how 401k’s, ira’s etc..are mostly based in stocks. What happens if we have another Great Depression and the stock market crash’s. Even if you have Real estate investments, if ppl can’t pay rent like with Corona, that’s not really helpful. So what are other ways in addition to those mentioned is there to help secure you into old age?

I make $4000/M after taxes and max 401K and spend about $2400 for all fixed costs (rent, utilities, etc). Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically.
