GS without a doubt. Get some valuable exposure and the world is your oyster.
DM me.
Brand being aside if the GS card project is a product strategy type role, that sounds way more interesting than B4 implementation. You’ll learn good problem solving skills for the long term. I feel like you approaching this with the wrong perspective
I’m confused why you wouldn’t take the marketing role then. If it’s about working for GS, you could try pivoting at your B4 to a marketing analytics team. You should learn some coding skills
Working middle/back office at a bank is painful

@OP, I believe @S&1 is not referring to a literal bank branch. In general, if you’re not working on the trading floor or IBD (i.e., more client facing roles) at a large bank/financial institution the life isn’t as glamorous and “exciting”
"no one knows of it unless they are biz/fnce/acct majors or background"
that's not true? and who cares what others think.
"I feel like gs esp Apple Card will be a big boost in my resume."
eh, I feel like in finance, it's lowkey stigmatized that if you're not in front or middle office, it's not good.
i personally would only jump for a salary boost, improvement in the work I want to do, or better WLB. I can't really see GS being that much better unless you really like the work there
Last comment was directed at m3 who deleted their comment listing 1. That I’m an idiot 2. They won’t switch to Apple bc they have csr and 3. Something about commas in marketing and that I’m not Logan Paul? Not sure what happened here sorry sc1

No1 knows it
Who exactly is no1? Any recruiter from a decent company would know
OP, ignore M3
Anyway, it sounds like you think the job at gs is a better fit for you - I say go for it!
If you’re looking for prestige then unless you’re in the IBD group at GS it’s not worth it. There’s a huge difference in mid-office GS the investment group.
-former GS intern
Not necessarily looking for prestige but looking to gtfo of pmo work. This job seems great as gs is a recognizable name snd especially paired with Apple. I think in marketing the recruiters don’t really see big4 as amazing as fnce snd acct recruiters do unless you do strategy but pmo work isn’t cut out enough for them many times.
Focusing on what will be more well known to your friends is not a great way to make a decision like this.
What kind of work do you want to do 5 years from now? Which job sets you up best for that goal?
And which job will result in more pay after 5 years? If you're an advisory associate now, in 5 years, you would be a manager. At GS, with corporate (meaning lower than consulting) promo schedules and pay increases, you will likely be behind your peers who will have made manager. Are you ok with that?
Sorry when I say telling people I mean by people I’ve networked in careers I’m interested in (still super young and learning what I want to do the rest of my life) or recruiters in my interest field.
Unfortunately that a manger question is the hardest. I’m torn between doing something I know I hate rn - literally get anxiety attacks about it sometimes and getting good steady salary and also steadily increasing- or doing something that sounds amazing in a product team (super interested in product) but not having a structure to move up as fast. That’s where I really appreciate advice like yours defiantly gives me a lot to think about thanks!

@Op it seems that your heart is set on leaving. Just do it and whatever you think is best for YOUR career.
I just left GS working on Apple Card. Would be happy to connect.
I have few questions to discuss.

Young padawan, i know it feels hard to tell now, but 20+yrs from now you'd wonder... Please think about your career as a long game. Motivation like "no one knows where I work" is so fickle. What do you mean big boost in your resume?
- What are you trying to do with your career?
- That should determine the experiences you want to curate.
- Do you enjoy implementation work or not?
There is no "better" choice between investment banking and consulting, or being a chef and a caterer. They are different. Good luck but do spend some time thinking about your strengths, skills gap and your career. Good luck!
It’s your skills not the brand that matters. Big 4 places a lot of people in well paid product and program management jobs in FAANG and other tech companies.
Totally agree and I’ve tried to see if I can move laterally. Unfortunately I don’t have as much experience for the roles open right now. I would personally rather go for an open position that is guaranteed rather than hoping some day a position at my firm will open for me.
What exactly is the position and what would you be doing?
Right now pmo work at big4 then marketing at gs (that’s where I want to go)
I like to think I’m in finance and have never heard of GS Apple Card lol
@ A1 I worked with Capital One’s card division for a little and if the 2 are anything alike, that’d be my guess. Just wasn’t for me
If you want to work at banks marketing credit cards, then yes that sounds like a great job.
Otherwise...
I remember having issues with no name recognition of my work when starting out.
But, over time, it will matter less. You'll probably end up with more people in your circle on similar paths.
For future work, all recruiters will know B4, so don't worry about that.
And what you're doing will matter much more than where you're doing it.
The Goldman opp sounds potentially more interesting though than B4 implementation.
Hey which did you choose? I was approach by a GS recruiter regarding Apple Card. Curious if you chose GS and if you like it.
