I am asking for 27 lpa to EY GDS but HR says max they can offer for 6 years is 21 lpa.

Problem is, when you get promoted counsel, your role is not different than an income partner. You are expected to do billing and business development, as well as running matters. So doing (income) partner-level work with associate-level pay.

Sidley put out a scale thru year 9 last year and i think that set "market" where 9th year is concerned. I think it was $445k base.
