Calling all people who have gone from boutique employment law firm to a full service firm - did you like it? Do you regret it? Anything you wish you would’ve known beforehand? Considering moving to a full service firm and would just like to know if there are any major differences or things I should beforehand!

Regrets: no rapport between attorneys. Especially in different practice groups. I miss the people I worked with at the Big 4 I was at. Likes: more money.

I made the move, and it was the best decision I ever made. The same amount of work for a lot more money. I also ended up liking the group/firm more, so it was a win all round.

Hello, I’m an associate (almost at the one year mark) at a midsize firm on the EPL team. I did about 2 years of employment law as a clerk during school and know that’s what I want to go into. I’ve asked for more EPL work but keep catching PI cases. I second-chaired an employment trial but don’t see any EPL work for the foreseeable future and wasn’t getting as much EPL exposure as I wanted before the trial. Any advice on a lateral move to a bigger firm with a broader range of EPL work?

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?
