Remember you work for a firm that can replace literally anyone including partners, no need to feel obligated for anything you can’t do anymore. Take care of yourself first. Your team will also appreciate more if you tell them sooner than later.
Inform your team first (at least through manager, partners if you’re close). Then your career advisor. Then email HR and they’ll let you know the next steps.
Be nice about the delivery and tell them how appreciative you are of their guidance. Work a standard 9-5. If anybody makes a fuss about it, then that’s on them- not on you.
Don't feel bad. Your firm would not hold off on firing you before your wedding/other important life event! Just be polite and hold your head up high.
Take care of yourself
chose yourself. remember that they will be able to manage it regardless
Do what’s best for you.
You don’t owe ANYONE an explanation. If you have a good relationship just speak with your immediate team and ask for next steps on handing over your work. After that, the firm doesn’t give a F so don’t feel guilt or bad whatsoever. If you are ready to leave do what is best for YOU.
Think about it this way. If you had a big personal issue today how many of them would step out of the way to help you? Since it’s personal, probably no one. At the end of the day it’s just business, don’t make it personal. They’ll figure it out.
Everyone is so nice here. On the GT bowl someone was eaten alive for a post like this.
Probably GT PPMDs trying to guilt trip someone into not making the best personal decision
