1. Hours per week: 55-80. Typical for me is closer to 80. Can often go 8-midnight or 9 midnight +- 2 hours. I tend to be on hot cases, though
2. MBB makes everything your responsibility. So, giving you an extremely challenging problem and asking you to fix it usually leads to highly demanding environments. You will be challenged to think and work at your absolute best.
3. Typical team is PL +2 or PL + 3

Goddamn—PIPE? Or just super high burn strat?
1) 65hr/wk is a good benchmark, which typically shakes out to ~14hr/day Mon-Thurs and ~8hr Fri. I’m typically online or adjacent to work 9AM-2AM. While atypical, my worst case was a sustained 90hr/wk
2) Depends. You can “coast” and do boring org/PMO/transformation cases that won’t demand much of you beyond your time. I prefer harder cases in a specific industry, and I say with complete confidence I’m solving problems which are hitherto unsolved. That’s hard and requires a lot of scrappiness and creativity.
3) PL+2 / PL+3 / PL+4, may include a Principal/PINO at 25-50%
It’s accurate 🤷♀️

I’m at about 55-60/week: 9-9 M-Th, 9-5 or 6 Fri on average
60-65 hrs a week.
Work is demanding, and the bar is high, so you can’t get away with simple insights or solutions to problems you’re expected to solve. It’s not easy work, and the hardest part is keeping up with everything happening in your work stream and those parts that are dependent on external parties. It’s not easy work, but it is rewarding work that pushes you to think more critically.
Teams are typically small. All the ones I’ve worked on have been EM + 2-3, with the occasional summer intern if there’s leadership support for it.
Wow, EY doesn’t sound too bad compared to the few responses posted. On book I’m 40/week, but in reality it’s more like 15-25 hours of works. Even though the pay is lower compared to MBB, but it’s not bad for 160k base. Am I only reading the high end of the workload spectrum or is it normal at MBB?
Usually people that self report the hours are the burners or in rarer cases the people that work less. The true average is likely in between. I would say 60 hours is pretty standard for most people I know. But there is obviously a range and it depends where in the case you are
