Would like to know how you are struggling three years out of college on $230K
That’s wild
Yea you’re just overspending.
Honestly man, you’re looking at the wrong shop - were one of the worst pay in our group - at 3 years of experience you’d be lattering into associate maybe senior associate level. Pay for associate level is 115k -130k base + 15% bonus. That wont touch anything you’re making right now especially if you’re struggling financially and banking on the promotion to take you out of deep water. On the contrary, you’ll probably have much better work life balance. Tbh however, i hate it here and want out asap. The pay is horrendous as a homegrown. Im at 3 YOE at 86k in NYC.
Hey, thanks for the honest and direct response. I appreciate it. $86k in NYC is far below market... I hope for your sake you can leave soon, even if the culture / WLB is great. I was initially going to ask about whether I could come in one level higher (the top end of that pay scale, $130k base + 15% bonus, is almost considerable, and if I could get just an extra ~$40k p.a., I would give it real consideration). After reading the end of your post, seems like perhaps that's not super likely though.

Real talk--if you're struggling at $160k at ~25 years old, you're going to continue struggling regardless of where you go next. Life gets more expensive once you add in a house and/or a family, and if your finances are so out of whack 3 years out of college, you're most likely in for a bumpy ride.

I think the key part here that you're glossing over is why your income requirements are so high.
What are you spending your money on?
I assume you are taking the mikey with this post?

I’ve heard of people living on less than 160k a year. Like 80% of households (usually meaning 2 incomes) in the US.
Relevance?
Struggling at 160K at 25 think you need to get your spending in check.

Does LEK do anything other than CDDs? If not, you probably wouldn't fit at Huron since the work is more operational focused. Would be better to look at other HCLS strategy shops, but you won't level up coming from LEK.

You can swing $160K at another Strategy shop but it's a tough market right now for laterals
Pretentious much? Hmm.
Interested I was offered a associate role at H for 120 plus sign on
