Can no longer buy AA Gift cards and get reimbursed by Amex Plat. What are you all doing to use the 200 airline perk?

Should also add I have status so don't need to pay to check bags or access lounge.

If I travel with other people to Delta Sky Lounge, I'll let them into the lounge with me and the airline perk pays for it. It also pays for any food you buy on the plane so sometimes I buy a couple extra snack boxes for later. Honestly, if you have status and whatnot on AA, I don't recommend choosing it for your airline credit. If you EVER fly an airline that isnt AA then it's probably best to choose that as your airline of choice just because you won't get your status benefits

And even though Amex says you have to choose your airline in January there have been many years when I have got them to change it mid year

You folks picked Delta then?

I picked Delta but I know people who picked Alaska. Really depends on which perks you want and where you live. If Delta/Alaska don't have many flights out of the airports you use a lot then there's no point in choosing them right?

I make $4000/M after taxes and max 401K and spend about $2400 for all fixed costs (rent, utilities, etc). With roughly $1600 left, and with a strong goal of saving as much as I can, what are some recommendations on how I should allocate my money better. I know this is vague but need some better financial planning.

Any idea what will happen to the classic car market as a result of the war in the Ukraine? Are prices going to come down or will classic cars be considered “safe” investments during this time of crisis?

My wife and I are moving to Boston from overseas (we’re from Italy and we’ve recently won the diversity visa green card lottery).

We are looking to rent a 1BR starting in January, ideally for ~$3k/month. I’ll be working in the downtown area.

Do you recommend we go for a serviced/luxury apartment (e.g. Montaje, 345 Harrison, etc.) or hire a broker to get a “normal” apartment?

Any managed buildings recommendations within our budget? Also, what are some good brokers we could work with?

Thanks!

Is the CPA designation worth it? For me it would take me 1 year of PREP courses and 2 years of PEP until i can write the CFE. And I am 27 years old right now. Also wondering if it would be crazy to pursue the CPA while learning how to code to be a developer as well?
