Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

Prepare yourself, it may take a lot longer than 4 months. The job market is brutal. I keep a spreadsheet with the jobs I’ve applied to and I haven’t heard back from 99.9% of them, there’s no use of having this spreadsheet when there’s no jobs to keep track of. Lol.

It’s incredibly frustrating and the lack of closure makes it even worse. The job market is pretty tough right now so it may take a bit longer. Good luck!

Yup
There are alot of people out of a job right now. And many of those have been out of a job a lot longer than 4 months.
You might want to review your resume to see if it has many of the keywords that are in the job description are in your resume. Many companies (especially the larger companies) having been using AI to screen out resumes against the job openings before a person actually sees it. Depending how many people applied for the job before you did, the screening process may not have gotten to your resume, it may of stopped before it reached yours because they might have reached the desired number of applications to look at for possible interviews.
Many companies could take at least 2-3 weeks before they reach out to those they want to interview.
The hiring process typically takes three to six weeks, though it can range from one week to several months depending on the industry, role complexity, and company size. On average, the process lasts about 36 days, with 62% of job seekers losing interest if they do not hear back within two weeks of a first interview.
Key Factors Affecting Speed
Role Level: Executive or specialized roles take much longer to fill than entry-level positions.
Company Size: Large organizations often have more bureaucratic, slower approval processes.
Background Checks: Delays in reference checks or background screening can extend the timeline.
Candidate Availability: Scheduling conflicts between multiple interviewers and applicants can cause bottlenecks.
