Hi fellow fishies!
Can someone please explain what is “SUPPLEMENTARY allowance” in my payslip??? It is the highest in my entire payslip, more than basic salary. Basic is lets say ₹7 lac annually and supplementary bonus is ₹7 lac 40 thousand.
Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???
Please help asap.

Gotta take risk in life at times. Growing with a company can be a great thing with a big payoff. Take age, life circumstances, bills, etc into consideration.
Makes a big difference if your single, younger, no kids, low rent/mortgage, paid off car, no debt, decent savings vs, breadwinner, non working spouse, w/ multiple kids, and a low savings.
I assume you are not either, but you get it. Good luck with the decision, I’ll be rooting for you. I had a similar choice to make 10 years ago… I took

I expect I will feel similiar but I think this is one of the most encouraging things I’ve read and I am so appreciative that a stranger on the internet would be as encouraging as you are. Will you enjoy the job duties that the portfolio analyst/manager role have? I love my role since I get to make majority of the investment decisions and explore opportunities for my firm’s clients. For example, we have an opportunity right now to invest into SpaceX and Reddit that I’m spearheading. I love the fact that I get to offer clients these types of opportunities on top of everything else I do in their portfolios.
I can’t really speak on the pay since I don’t know your financial position. I can tell you that I’ve turned down positions that pay more than what I am making solely because I have a great work/life balance and I truly enjoy what I do every day.
So I have always done bank analysis exclusively. I think I would love the “helping ppl” aspect of it and being able to structure portfolios and explain things to FAs. I think I’d like the research aspect as well but not as sure of that.
I do think my work life balance would get a little worse just in terms of what I do (it’d be a smaller place so would have more responsibilities) , but I think I would overall enjoy it more
