Considering leaving Chubb, does anyone recommend any leads or places worth looking into?

I agree anywhere else is better than Chubb! Horrible upper management! Left almost 6 months ago a d had been there for.about 10 years. LinkedIn was a pretty good resource for me depending on what position you are looking for. My company is hiring for commercial property adjusters.

what company is there

At a recent Town Hall, Evan said something to the effect that “If you don’t like it here, go work for a competitor.” That’s all you need to know about the “culture” here. I suggest taking him up on it. And never look back. You’re welcome.

I left chubb bc I was overworked, under constant pressure and they kept assigning me more books of business as other underwriters quit and kept giving me 2% raises. I like working at Markel a lot better. Chubb is only good for shareholders not employees.

like

ya it’s not bad for that level but it’s bad for underwriters. Other companies reward underwriters better than chubb does. I didn’t see a path to get AVP but just changing companies brought my bonuses from 5k at chubb to 32k at markel

like

Consider anywhere else other than Starr and AIG and you’ll be happier (Similar cultures). Ask for more then you were getting because you were likely underpaid. Bermuda and London based market with US presence have better long term pay and travel opportunities and seem to be quite fun especially the newer ones. Other markets like Hartford/Liberty/Travelers/CNA have their own strengths and weaknesses but generally stable, good people and less craziness.

like

Every place has their issues. Leave if you really need to, but the job market is tough right now.

like

Hartford really is amazing and I started my career at Chubb

like

I agree The Hartford was an amazing company to work for. They have quality products and perks. The company has great presence in the outside markets making it an easy sell.

Insurance is insurance. If you are in sales, it may be easier to sell insurance with a big company with a massive advertising budget. If you're an adjustor who has to deliver on the promises made by the salesmen, the job is the same no matter where you go. Barring non-work-related issue like a hostile work environment, harassment, or promised raises that never appear, the job you are doing now is just like the one you will be doing with any other company. Think about why you want to leave and what you would do if the grass is the same shade of green in the other pasture as the one you jumped from.

I’d say but I’m looking too and don’t want more competition! Lol

What are you looking for exactly? What do you want in a company? Do you want to be a W2 or 1099? Do you want to be captive or have more options? I am a hiring manager for an Independent Brokerage in Illinois. It is a remote position, but you would have to live in one of the states we onboard in. Feel free to reach out.

like

I am looking for a W2 position here in Youngstown Ohio. Youngstown is small town on the PA border so I am licensed in both states. I have tried to build a book of business here under 1099, but nepotism reign here. Very family oriented, which is not a bad thing but it makes it hard to break into an inside position. I don't have the zest that I started with 10 years so W2 is better for me. Anyone hiring?

What area do you live in? I have something in NJ

like

Berkley One is hiring. Good amount of former Chubb people and AIG people.

like

I am in Northern VA and am hiring. I've been licensed since 2019 and tried my hat at various carriers. I am loving Medicare. I'd be happy to share my experiences and lessons learned along my journey.

Would you pass along the job posting please? thank you!

What area do you work in?

I am happy at National General

FCC

I'd recommend Prudential.

I work for Great American Insurance; great company. We have an open spot for an Excess Casualty Underwriter right now. Minimum 13 years experience, preferably located in Cincy or Chicago, but open to other locations for the right candidate. Feel free to contact me directly.

What are questions to ask in an interview with a startup? I work at a medium sized company that brings in ~$70m in revenue with decent health benefits and 401k. I’ll be interviewing with a startup that’s under 50ppl and from what I could find online makes ~$4m in revenue and received a second round of funding (but is in debt). What are smart questions to make sure the company would be a good fit and for me to know what risks I could face joining a startup?

So I've been at my job for 5+ years as a data analyst/back office support team. I made my way up into making a little over $40k. I've been WFH the past 2 yrs and overtime more than half my team has now been pulled out to work for a diff department which resulted in me taking 90% of our daily tasks to handle. I'm at a point where the salary I'm getting is disrespectfully low for all the work I do. Should I ask for a raise? And if so, how do I go about asking without sounding greedy.

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?
