Construction litigator. Mid-Regional firm in Canada. Firm has a billable target of 1650 hours. 4 years at the firm and I am averaging around 1950/year. Partners have suggested/encouraged I apply for the partnership. Received minimum raise this year (2100 hours), not happy about it. Very profitable associate. Have offers from 2 national firms for similar hours and salary increase of 50k + with similar bonus structure. Moving would put me back 3-4 years for partnership. Advice to stay or go? Thx.

What’s starting salary for a partner at the mid regional firm? Unless it’s significantly more than the 50k you’d be making and your chances of becoming partner within the next year are great I would leave and go to one of the national firms.

Why chase a title? Partnership is a carrot and can be elusive. I'd go wherever one feels valued and partnership will come.
