What BCG 1 said + sleep train as early as the kid is ready. Also, FaceTime has been a game changer
Put in your time while they won't remember and it will make it easier to negotiate with your team and client to take off time later when you need to.
Just make sure you do get good sleep when on the road and take every night shift when you're home.
Switch to local consulting firm if you in some big metropolitan area like NYC, SFO, Dallas. Not worth the job missing precious time with kids
You have to have a supportive spouse that understands the demands of being on the road. But also when you're home, you need to help out. Make sure to touch base everyday with the family. It's all worth it at the end.
