Hi Google - I am requesting guidance!
I am prepping for my interview specifically GCA and open ended questions. I struggle to tell if the outcome should be talking through your process/steps (maybe for a question like - how would you go about determining program complexity) vs a specific solution such as create x new product, for x market by x date based on my assumptions. Is the desired outcome something I can clarify with the interviewer?
I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

Unlikely
Maybe there’s something that candidates are not aware of (like the workload of the recruiter and interviewers, process etc), but given candidates invested lots of time and energy going through 4-5 rounds of interviews, they deserve at least an update (not necessarily an offer or rejection, but even something along the lines of “we are still interviewing other candidates or in the process of making a decision”). Transparency is the key here. Not responding to any queries post the initial timeframe the recruiting team gave is just not good enough. You could argue that some candidates may not be their 1st choice anymore, but at least of having the courtesy to simply let them know and provide the feedback so that there are action points for future attempts.
That said, candidates should probably just assumed they haven’t got the part after a couple of follow ups and move on.

Agree with your long first paragraph
Disagree with your second but always have a backup plan
Well I applied for an internal job and the recruiter never contacted me and week later job was closer so is they ghosting ?

You won’t be ghosted after the final round.
The process takes a long time, and you may not be the first choice, they could be negotiating with other candidates. Give it time.
Unlikely but it happens. Then you’ll get a random rejection email.
I don't ever really hear of that happening at Google. Not that it doesn't happen at al but my experience with reruiters at Google is that they are very professional and will always reach back out. If you haven't heard back in a week then I would follow up just to try and touch base.
Thanks both! In that case, how long would you recommend to assume it’s likely to be a rejection hence no point in continuing to try follow up with the recruiter regularly? Thank you!
