CRM updates, internal messages, forecast notes, prepping for meetings, chasing materials. None of it is fake work, but some days it feels like all the supporting tasks crowd out the actual selling. By late afternoon I realize I barely created any pipeline at all. How do you keep admin from quietly becoming the main event?

That's all just part of the job. I'll do what I can to try to streamline things, but at some point it's like you say, it feels like it's trying to crowd out anything else. Ultimately it comes down to time management, either trying to set aside certain times to deal with admin tasks, or just doing what I can to dispense with them efficiently.

Any time saving tips or tricks?

I know exactly how you feel. All the administrative work makes me feel like I am not getting my actual job done. I set calendar blocks so that admin work doesn't take up all my time.

I sometimes fear I’ll get in trouble if I block my calendar. But without a block, I feel like a sitting duck!

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. Instead of leaving, I’d love to go back to my “consulting roots” and join the ProServ team. I’m taking my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam next weekend. Hoping this freeze is lifted soon.

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

Hey FishBowl Friends, so I’m currently trying to break into tech sales/FinTech and I feel that due to my previous work history, I might not look like the ideal candidate on paper but I’m an extremely fast learner and very coachable. I’ve been a manger at a gym, got my degree in finance, worked as a client advisor at a top 3 auto dealer in the nation and now I’m a project manager at a solar company. I really want something that’s remote and steady, any recommendations on how to spruce myself up?

I was interviewed for a major tech player in the hospitality industry, had 2 interviews which for the first one the recruiter was late, and didn't confirm the interview while I emaild her to make sure I do have an interview. After 45 minutes she said they will let me know...

2 months later and I am still waiting...

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?
