Curious about what the Big 4 Partners in India make in INR, been considering moving back to India (home) and continue the partnership route. TIA!

1sr yr Eq Partners in India make around 1.2 Cr. A 5th year equity partner should be around 2.2 Cr. And I'm talking about line partners.

With some add on firm responsibilities, on the median you can expect around 2.5 cr.

Now if you compare this to US pay - it's quite low dollar to dollar. But for the cost of living in India - it offers you a lifestyle which you can't dream of in the US.

Typically you'd have best of international schools, 24 hr maids, a driver (or two), world class global insurance (PwC just announced 1 mil insurance for partners), excellent health care, two international business class vacations and still save very well.
Also not to forget - there's never bone chilling cold weather.

How much would bonus be? That is less than $100k USD. It offers a very good life in India but dealing with all the headaches is it worth it? I’m quite frustrated dealing with the offshore team as they take for ever to reply and give the run around and are not always upfront I find. Btw I am of Indian background myself but born in NA.

like

The problems offshore delivery centers are very different than that of member firm. I do not think its wise to mix both of these.

Also not sure when you visited India. There might be traffic - but most member firm employees don't need to come to office. They'd either go to client location or work from home. Office is an exception.

Also internet situation can be patchy for some. But most of us have a 100 Mbps broadband at home and we pay less than $15 for it per month.

A buddy is a partner in KPMG India and he makes takes away ~ 1.2cr. He is getting into his 3rd year as a partner and says he expects to get close to 1.5cr pretty soon.

like

By 5th yr - I'm sure he'd make twice of current pay. It's pretty good money in India. If you intend to live in india.

To be honest, if you own a home - you have little expenses back here. The biggest expense would be school fees for kids. You have best of schools (IB school) at less than 8 to 10k USD a year. Undergraduate degrees are almost free in best of colleges. But even if you needed to go to a paid one - it's not more than 150k USD for the full course.

You might want to save up 300k to 500k for post graduate studies in thr US or UK per kid.

Other than that - you will struggle to spend more than 35K a year including best of dining, clothes, maids, drivers, cable etc. (excluding any fancy shopping). Maybe another 20k if you want to drive a beemer instead of a Toyota.

So with a TC of 195K net of taxes and expenses in tune of 65K (with a great lifestyle) - I'm sure it's a great deal.

PwC India firm Partners make in the range of 150K- $300K USD. PwC US Firm owned offshore centers (ACs) don’t have any Partners residing in India (only MDs)

like

Same with Deloitte USI - no partners, only MDs. Comp is about 75L.

Planning to move back to Asia/India and looking for direct partner or leadership in tech roles. Would appreciate advise

Big4 are very domestically focused. Which means that for someone to come from outside the country and build a book can be very difficult. Having said that - people have done it. Also depending on your seniority - if you come into a Big4 at a leadership level (manager of Partners) or come in to support network business - things can be slightly easier.

Considering there is always an internal pipeline of leaders - coming as a manager of partners is tough unless you bring something very very unique to the table (say a very different model of scaling business etc). But not impossible. you will need a very strong reference at Advisory leader level.

The other option is to come in as a partner / MD to support network business in a growth area (Salesforce, sap, analytics, guidewire, workday etc).

It might be quite tough to build a domestic business from scratch. Have you considered ACN, IBM etc?

DM me if you want to discuss further.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about this recently

Interested to know as well. Paid fair or super low balled?

60L per annum excluding bonus..this is for a tier 2 consulting firm

This is completely incorrect. All all fis Eq Partners start somewhere around 1 - 1.2 cr.
We pay some directors above 70L.

Good post Pwc1…. It’s a lifestyle that is fictional in US. Brings back good old days

P2 - I stand corrected. it would by 0.5%

The EY partners in India (who work in the part of the firm that focuses on serving Indian clients, not who support the delivery for US/EMEA) do very, very well.

MD1, can you share an estimated range for the EY partners? I assume other firms will be similar.

I'm not in sales per se but I manage my company's largest wholesale account ($150 million per/yr account). It's a great company, awesome culture, good benefits, flexibility, but the pay is not great ($60K/yr). All the pros outweighed the mediocre pay, but now with inflation rising, my paycheck isn't going as far and I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out if I should start looking elsewhere or if I should ask my boss for a raise.

Luggage delay claim question

I used Chase explorer to buy tickets for my vacation and luggages were delayed for a month. Per chase term I am entitled $100 a day for 3 days. But the claim agency chase used has been asking for airlines response, which has not came (2month+ now). I am concerned insurance will use this as an excuse to never compensate. Is there a good way to handle this situation?

When selling practices, I was always under the impression the practice would be sold based on 2-3x trailing 12 rev.
Is it typical for practices you currently work for to do some sort of equity ownership ramp-up, whether you buy in with cash, or get equity as part of your overall comp package every year during review time?
Trying to weight my options here. I was under the impression the 2-3x or whatever times trailing would be set, and payments would be spread over like a 5yr period for i.e.

I have been offered a position at a non-US B4 with a 2 year path to partner. I know one of the partners at the local firm and have the support of the regional service line lead, and am bringing a specialized skill set they are trying to open a new business around. The KPIs seem achievable and I’ll be in charm school to help build support within that timeline. Most of me thinks a 2 year path under these circumstances realistic but my inner skeptic is jaded. Anything I might have missed?
