You know how trump made that comment about sh**hole countries. Literally my perspective on Cali... My first and only time stepping in human feces was in San Jose. Good food can only make up for so much. But you'd basically have to double your income just to break even and live a similar lifestyle as you would in Texas.
Where do you work and what do you do?

Around 250-300k if you’re single and like apartment/condo. Even with rent at 1-1.5k more a month it’s not that much more, even after California income tax.
Now if you have a family and a nice 2-3k square foot house in the suburbs 4br/2ba that you got for 400k…we’ll probably closer to 500k as that house will be 2M+

You should look for a faang role in texas.
I'm not super familiar with Texas real estate - but say you live somewhere that is not going nuts with housing (in Texas) you would probably need a tc of 350-500k to stay equivalent.

Go for it. Doesn't hurt - but really look into the cost of living.
