Currently at Morgan Stanley, and like the org so far but not liking my group. I see online in order to transfer you “typically” need to be in your role for 18 mos. Does anyone know if MS is super strict w this? 1.5yrs seems long…. I’m roughly 6 mos in.

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. Any thoughts or advice going into this?

I'm working on skills to reposition myself from a branch of tech where certifications are mandatory and required to even interview into DevOps or software development. I'm currently taking some online classes in Jenkins, docker, python. I've found a few certifications you can test for. I'd love to be able to go into a mid level position vs Jr in the next few years. A) Are these types of certs helpful or useless? B) what skills differentiate Jr and mid level positions?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at my firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me.
