Currently at one of the big holding agencies and have felt underpaid for a while. Just got a job offer with a 20k bump, but it’s at a performance marketing agency and I’m not sure if that would be the best for my career growth/provide me the best work for my portfolio. Do I take the money? Or wait for a better opportunity to come along?

Appreciate any advice 🙏!

At this point in your career, take the $$. I’ve been in experiential, shopper, and big holding agencies on global business. You never know where your career will take you, and you’d be surprised at some of the creative freedom you can have on the fringes. Good luck to you!

How much does your boss like you? How important are you to the client? Can you take the offer to them and ask them to match? Or are you at a better shop/better client and they won’t match bc it’s from a role at a much lower caliber?

like

We’ve had a lot of account shuffling recently, so my current “boss” hasn’t worked with me for the longest time. I’ve heard people say that my company typically doesn’t match (but that’s mostly from some people on fishbowl). I’m hesitate to go to them and ask them to match, especially if I’m not sure if I want the other opportunity, but I don’t know if that’s me just being too precautious.

Take the money and look for a new job while you’re there. Assuming you have a good book already. If not then you may need to grind some spec work.

Depends on what you want from your career.

Niche agencies can offer more money but they make it harder to get out of that niche. Rounding out your skill set is great and valuable, as mentioned. But you need to have enough of brand consumer if you want to ever go back to that.

Easy to take the long view when the raise would change things for you, I know.

Valid.

Stupid Question- We have been thinking for IVF and trying to understand with this process, is there any difference in the health and life of the child as compared to a child born without IVF. I did ask this with our doctor and he said casually its all same. This is not to question any doctor but just to really understand what is going to be different with the kid. This is not very old technology and not much studies as well.
