Currently make $65k (total comp excluding bonus around ~$74k) as a GP accounting analyst in NYC. I'm four years out of college (liberal arts major lol...) and prior to this role I did two years at a bank in fund onboarding. I don't have a CPA or anything like that & I've only taken the SIE. Realistically, can I ask for a raise this year? I've been at the same salary level since late 2017 :/

$65k total comp seems low especially in NYC but is likely because you don’t have a cpa. I know people in public accounting in cheaper COL areas making $65-70k total comp out of school

like

Not sure what your comp was at previous roles but $75k entry level total comp for accounting sounds par for the course. Given that you have previous experience and were at that comp level previously I would imagine you have some leverage for a raise assuming your firm isn’t under significant financial stress

like

What did you do for fund onboarding?

Basically would constantly call/email the bank's institutional clients for the fund information (like products being traded, LEI, tax info), compile everything & then send to back office for account opening. We had to do one or two other regulatory things as well but those were more on the side

Tbh you should have a feedback meeting once or twice a year, and if it's negative, you should leave with an action plan for how to improve it by the next meeting, and if it's positive, you should ask for a raise and hint at what the market is paying for someone with your skills and experience.

I'll try that! Thanks so much for the suggestion.

Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)

I like my current job, company and public accounting. I know I am being underpaid at $70k as a senior tax associate with 2-3 years of experience as I have talked with my local peers as well as local recruiters. Also, I know outside hires to my company get paid about $5-$10k higher than me, but they don’t get a raise the following year. My question is what is everyone’s experience with company hopping to get a pay bump within public accounting?

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?

I doubt they can release offer in just 2 days if all good, having said that tomorrow is holiday.
Ques- should I tell after 2 days I have to join one of organization. Or can I tell, still I am with current organisation and serving np, probably 60 days left and wait for their offer..
